Trey Needs Deorderazation

Our friend Trey came in today and picked up this like sled. Its a 4'10 Deodorizer by Gary Wilson. This is Gary's version of a mini-simmons. It has 5 fin boxes and Trey is riding it as a quad. I guess he is too stinky because he didn't want to have his picture taken. Have fun on it Trey, let us know how it goes.

Have You Heard of Chris Christenson?

Chris Christenson is one of the best shapers in the world in our opinion. You can have your Al Mericks, Firewires and Rustys, we will take CC. CC has been blowing up as of late, the only reason most people haven't heard of him is because he doesn't spend bukoos of money on ads in magazines. Recently his boards have been seen under the feet of Jordy Smith, Greg Long, Mikey Detemple, Brad Gerlach and a few other pros that have contracts with under companies and wouldn't appreciate us calling them out. All I will say is one likes Neckbeards and diving in dumpsters and the other likes to travel in Indo, grow dreads and has a affinity for motorboating.

We have been working on getting this together since meeting at the Surfexpo in January and we are STOKED on the opportunity to have Chris's boards which are more like works of art in our store. Heres a list of the boards we are getting.

  • 5'11 Ocean Pro 3: Standard shortboard for guys like Jordy and Brad Gerlach
  • 5'10 Ocean Avenger: Thruster with 5 fin option
  • 5'7 Ocean Racer 1: Mini Simmons type board for crappy waves
  • 5'9 C-hawk: This one is going to be a real work of art. When we talked to CC he said it took him 2 days on the paint on this one.
  • 6'0 Cafe Racer: Round pin quad

Heres a couple of boards CC did for Jordy to get silly on. With Trestles coming up on the WCT I wouldn't be shocked if you saw a skull logo on some of the guys boards.

We have some things in the works with CC so be sure to stay connected to Surf City so you wont be out of the loop.

Courtney and her Firewire

Here is our friend Courtney posing with her new Firewire. New shred sleds are always nice but it is even nicer that the day you get them there is some waves.  Hopefully she got a little bit of the swell this morning!

Darlene likes Boiled Peanuts

Heres Darlene Rhode after picking up her new 7'0 Boiled Peanut shaped by Gary Wilson.  Since we are from the south we here at Surf City LOVE boiled peanuts! Who can blame us? Darlene is from Oahu, Hawaii and clearly loves Boiled Peanuts too. If you haven't seen Gary's Boiled Peanut you should stop by the store and check one out, they are without a doubt one of our best selling boards because of their versatility in good waves and bad waves.  Look out for Darlene and her husband Kelly shredding at a beach near you this summer.

Boiled Pea-Nutz?

This is Bryan Bodle. He came in this morning and picked up a fresh Boiled Peanut shaped by our very own Gary Wilson. This is a 6'10 and should go great as soon as we get some waves. Pray for some swell so Bryan can get his new sled out in the water and give it a go!

Getting Back on the Horse

Here is a shot of Kelly Rode his first time on a SUP.  Back in the day, 25+ years and 2 major knee surgeries ago, Kelly was a member of the legendary Makaha Surf Team along with Sunny Garcia and Johnny Boy Gomes . Now a days Kelly is semi-retired and managing the Myrtle Beach Surf Camp.

His buddies are all stoked to see "Kelly Boy" as he is known back on the west side of Oahu, back out in the water and getting his feet wet again. Look out for Kelly around town spreading the Aloha to everybody he sees too.  Don't be shy throw him a shaka and I'm sure he will throw one back at you too!
