Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Yesterday Mark went up to Wrightsville Beach to compete in the 2011 Surf to Sound Challenge. We make no bones about us digging paddleboarding and this is why. Mark picked up his new 12.6 race board this week rode that baby a few times during the week and what-do-ya know he is the new Champion of the 12.6 division of the event. Congrats Mark!

New boards make everyone happy, even when you are around them all the time. Mark picked up one of Gary's 7'6 Happy Endings for a shred sesh. But since he has a wide variety of boards to choose from Jordan is going to share it with him. Mark was charging in Costa Rica on a 7'6 so I expect nothing less on this. Watch out for Jordan and Sunyata ripping this week because I bet shes jonesing to get out there!

Well we here at Surf City pride ourselves on not just being a surf shop but also a little slice of the culture we live and breath. When Mark opened the new store he wanted to have part store and part museum and we have done just that. This is Ray Parker and Mark with a replica ancient alaia from the Bishop Surfing Museum in Hawaii. The board is about 8'6 and circa 1930's.

Wanna surf like Taj? Or better yet Michel Bourez? Word on the street is he has an affinity for the Hellfire model when the waves turn to gutless mush burgers. We just got our new shipment of sleds from our friends at FW and they look pretty SWEET. In the shipment we just received we got a 5'8 and 5'10 Hellfire and a 5'10 and 6'0 Dominator. We also got a 5'6 Hellfire but that was out of the door faster and a squirrel on crack.  But in all seriousness (which we are sometimes) these are pretty cool and you should stop by and check them out!

Introducing: Dougie "Fresh" Wendel

Not many people can pull of the nickname "Fresh" unless your the Fresh Prince of Bel-aire, but Dougie Wendel can. Dougie is our youngest team rider at just 11 years old and has been seen ripping from Pawley's Island to Costa Rica and Cape Hatteras. Watch out for Dougie Fresh in the future, he has been tearing up the local contests as of late and we are stoked to have him on the team.

Smelling Pretty Fishy Today

The newest visual addiction just in time for our flat spell. Blow up comes from the mind of Victor Pankur and has tons of sherddage from a bunch of Australian hipsters and a couple Hawaiians. Anyways its a great way to waste 30 minutes.

Heres Russ with his new 5'8 White Diamond by Robert's Surfboards. This is the board that started off a entire movement that has lead everyone to ride shorter, fatter, funner boards. Russ is going to love this board just like everybodys favorite hipster, Dane Reynolds.

First Ones Gone!

The first Chris Christenson board is out the door and we are stoked that it was our buddy Clay Crutchfield. Clay came into the shop the other day and saw this little nugget and it was love at first sight. His new board, which actually isn't a little nugget, its a 6'6 Submariner, is going to be a good one to have around here. Clays stoked and so we are too! He will be keeping it classic for the rest of the summer on his tabla nueva.

Reef-Sweetwater Pro/AM

The Surf City team had a strong presence this year at the Reef/Sweetwater ProAm. Chris Moore, Blair Wheeler, Chase Koch and Ryan Rieddi all surfed it. Chris and Blair both surfed in the pro division but unfortunately lost in the first round, both of them got 3rd in their first heats. Chase and Chris advanced through round 1 of the amateur before getting knocked out. Yew! Good job boys! Watch out for more team updates in the future.

Dakota's Vapors

Here is Dakota with is 5'7 Vapors from Superbrand Surfboards. This board was on the rack for about 45 minutes before he came and put his name on it. I mean can you blame him? The Supers that we have in stock are some of the best looking boards around, hands down. Dakota will be killing it on this little nugget so make sure to take notice.

New Boards Have Us Feeling SUPER

Not any more than 15 minutes after the CC's got to the store we got another surprise. 3 boxes of Superbrand Surfboards.  We all got smiley when we saw these freshies. We got 10 for the shop and Blair got one of the new Fiberflex boards.  The third picture down is one of the favorites of everybody at the shop, its a Dion Agius "Craft" Model. Along with the Dion board we got a Clay Marzo model, 2 Toys, 2 Vapors, 2 Supermodels, 1 Slug and 1 Quadrafinia.

If you want one hurry by the shop because they will go fast!

This is a fresh 4'11 shredtastic shred sled for team rider Dougie Wendel. As you can see he likes green ooze. Dougie came in the other day to work with Gary Wilson on a new board and this is the final product. Look out for Dougie and his dad Doug ripping in Pawleys. How can you miss a slimey green board?

Heres our friend Steve Sutton and his fresh new blade. Steve stopped by the shop today and picked up a 6'5 El Fuego by Firewire. The one that Steve got is a round tail with 5 fin boxes. Steve is gonna be ripping on it this week hopefully, all we need is some WAVES!

Trey Needs Deorderazation

Our friend Trey came in today and picked up this like sled. Its a 4'10 Deodorizer by Gary Wilson. This is Gary's version of a mini-simmons. It has 5 fin boxes and Trey is riding it as a quad. I guess he is too stinky because he didn't want to have his picture taken. Have fun on it Trey, let us know how it goes.

Nicole has a bright future in surfing and fashion. She came in today and picked up a 6'6 Eggman shaped by Gary Wilson. She not only got a sick board for around here but she accesorized it and matched up evertything from the OAM traction pad to the teal leash. Look out for her ripping on it!
