Board Building
So not only do we have boards coming in from some of the best shapers from California, we also have one of the best shapers on the East Coast in house building boards in our shaping bay. Gary Wilson of Kinetic Surf Designs has been making boards for as long as anybody around and has the perfect boards for our crappy waves we have, his step-ups and guns are to shabby either. Check out Gary's site www.kineticsurfdesigns.com or stop by and check out his new sherd sleds, the new Porkchops are my favorite new shape!
Heres Gary doing what he does best

BOTD: The Original Dumpster Diver
We have a huge collection of classic boards from different eras of surfing history decorating the store so we came up with a Board of the Day idea, here is the first of what will be a daily post from the SC crew.
This classic early 1960's Jacobs was "recycled" from the landfill in Santa Paula Ca. back in the mid seventies by the weigh master Tony Gatica. Tony a south bay surfer from the 60's, kept the foam and redwood relic from its untimely death by taking it to his house in Ventura. The board was in need of major repair and was moth balled
in the garage for over 20 years.
Sometime in 2006, Tony's nephew Mark Allison owner of Surf City in Myrtle Beach SC had the board shipped over in a shipping container he shared with Lynn Shell from Outerbanks Boarding Company. Lynn a legendary surfer/shaper from OBX (now shaping and distributing Superbrand Surfboards for the East Coast) took the board into the glass shop and gave it the ultimate face lift. The holes were filled and a nose block was added it was glossed and polished. The board has found its final resting place in the newly renovated Surf City Surf Shop in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. It is now part of a 50+ board collection on display.

Surf City is Getting ...Lost
So a few weeks back we booked an order for a fresh batch of ...Lost surfboards. Our friend Matt the owner/shaper over at ...Lost has been doing big things lately in San Clemente, like shaping boards for the best 17 year old in the world. In case you didn't hear Kolohe Andino did something nobody else has ever done and won BOTH the Pro Junior and Pro event in HB. Here is a little video of Kolohe tearing apart lowers.

Art in the Room
So today we painted. It looks great but thanks to local artist/photographer/surfer/donut maker/painter Greg Letts we have a nice artistic dressing room. I don't know about yall but we like art at Surf City and we like supporting local artists and showing their work, check out greg's works HERE. Anywho thanks Greg
Odd Crafts
While most of us here ride typical shortboards we love seeing people riding and sliding on odd crafts. Here is one of our favorites, Tyler Warren from Dana Point on a 4'10 bar of soap. Our buddy lance talked Gary into making him a 5'4 bar of soap (he calls it a deodorizer)
